DH-6900 Anti-settling Agent
Description:
DH-6900 is a pre-swollen paste thixotropic agent in which fatty acid amide wax is dispersed in a solvent. It has been effectively activated by the solvent and can be used in coating formulations of a variety of solvent-based systems. It forms a strong network structure in the paint system. Its excellent thixotropic properties provide excellent anti-settling, anti-sagging and good dispersibility.
Physical index:
Appearance:: milky white paste

Solvent: Petroleum solvent / ethanol
Proportion: 0.89±0.05
Acid value: <5
Amine value: <3
Average particle size: 6-7um

Features:
●It forms a gel network structure through hydrogen bonding in the coating system, giving the coating system strong thixotropy; it maintains structural viscosity under low shear, significantly and effectively suspends particles such as aluminum powder, pigments and fillers, prevents sedimentation during storage, or softens the sediment and has redispersibility;
●During the coating construction process, it effectively prevents the occurrence of sagging; the anti-settling/anti-sagging performance is maintained for a long time;
●There is no special restriction on the addition method, and it can exert its performance under high-speed dispersion without grinding. The dispersion adaptability temperature is wide and can be used at room temperature to 70°C;
●In the coating system, it will not dissolve and precipitate gel particles or coarse particles, and can improve the directional arrangement of metal pigments such as aluminum powder and pearlescent powder;
●It has no obvious effect on the gloss and weather resistance of the coating film;
Scope of application:
It can be used in almost all solvent-based coating systems, such as epoxy paint, high solid thick coating, acrylic, polyester, unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester resin, chlorinated rubber, etc. It can also be used in aluminum powder paint, pearlescent paint and heavy anti-corrosion coating;
Usage and Dosage:
When used as an anti-settling agent, the addition amount is 1.0-2.0% (total amount of coating formula);
When used as an anti-sagging agent, the dosage is 2.0-5.0% (total amount of coating formula);
When added later, it is more appropriate to use a high-speed disperser to mix amide wax slurry, the temperature is controlled below 70℃, the speed is 1500-2000rmp, and the dispersing and stirring time is about 30 minutes;
The best addition method is to first mix with part of the resin and solvent into a pre-dispersed slurry, the preparation ratio is DH-6900: xylene: resin = 20:40:40, and the above materials are put into a dispersing solvent together, pre-dispersed at a speed of about 1000rmp for about 5 minutes to a uniform state, and then dispersed at a high speed of 1500-2000 rpm for 10-30 minutes. During dispersion, the stirring blade should be moved up and down appropriately to obtain a more uniform dispersion result. This method is suitable for coating systems containing metallic pigments.
Thixotropy will decrease under high shear and long time, so if grinding and dispersion are required, the operation time should be shortened.
